Acne Treatment

Acne can be unattractive. It can also cause permanent scarring and emotional distress. Fortunately, several treatment options are available. Most acne patients try a variety of over the counter acne remedies before seeking real medical help. Unfortunately, this delay in effective treatment can cause significant scarring. Aesthetica can help control and treat your acne problems. Acne scarring can be treated in a variety of ways including certain skin care products, prescription medications, chemical peels, laser or pulsed light treatments, soft tissue fillers, dermabrasion and microdermabrasion.

Let Dr. Sneed and his staff develop an individualized, custom acne treatment that's just right for you.

PhotoFacial™

Photofacial is a non-ablative and non-invasive treatment that rejuvenates your skin using the remarkable new technology of Intense Pulsed Light (IPL). IPL Photofacials can improve the signs of sun damage, rosacea, and brown spots on the face, hands and body. It has also been used to reduce the appearance of mild acne scars, dark circles around the eyes and fine lines around the eyes and mouth.

The IPL Photofacial handpiece is gently pressed to the skin and gentle pulses of light are emitted. Usually 4-6 treatment sessions lasting about 20 minutes each will provide you with beautiful results.

There is little to no recuperation time - with an IPL Photofacial you can usually return to work or resume your normal activities on the same day. You will notice a gradual, natural-looking improvement in your skin with time. IPL is a safe solution tailor-made to your skin type and condition.

Silhouette Suture ThreadLift™

ThreadLift™
Before
After

For patients who desire a younger, more lifted appearance of the face, neck, and brow without undergoing a facelift or brow lift, a new minimally invasive procedure is available. FDA-approved Silhouette Suture are thin, flexible sutures that are threaded underneath the skin to rejuvenate sagging foreheads, eyebrows and cheeks. When the threads are gently pulled, tiny absorbable cones and knots lift the sagging tissue into a subtly higher, more youthful position that reflects the patient's natural facial contours. The sutures are left in place to maintain the effects, which are further enhanced and supported over time as the body produces natural collagen and elastin fibers around the threads. The entire procedure takes about an hour under local anesthesia.

Silhouette Suture Threads™ are so small they can't be seen even in patients with pale or thin skin. They are made of polypropylene, a non-absorbable material used for years in many different surgeries. Mild bruising and swelling may last for up to a week. Many patients actually drive themselves home from the office after the procedure. There are typically no visible scars and the beneficial lifting effects typically last for 3 to 5 years. Many of our patients have already had previous facelifts or brow lifts and now want additional lifting without the trauma of major surgery. Threadlift is the ideal lifting procedure for those who do not want or do not need a full surgical facelift.

Cool Touch III Laser®

CoolTouch® technology rejuvenates the face by stimulating the growth of collagen in the skin. It reduces or delays the signs of aging, diminishes acne scarring and improves skin texture. CoolTouch® is unique because it delivers a cooling spray before, during and after the laser procedure, increasing patient comfort. In addition, CoolTouch can be used on many patients whose skin pigmentation or severe scarring cannot be helped with other lasers. Results can be seen as soon as the second or third treatment. You should notice a definite improvement within the first few months. The length of therapy depends on the patient's preferences and the severity of the problem being treated. Treatments are typically spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart and studies have shown increased collagen production for an additional 18 to 24 months.

Permanent Hair Reduction

Aesthetica offers two highly successful methods of permanent hair reduction. This gives you the advantage of being offered the technology that best suits your individual needs.

LightSheer™ Hair Removal
Made by Lumenis™, the same company that pioneered Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) technology, the LightSheer™ diode laser is considered the industry "gold standard" in achieving permanent hair reduction. The LightSheer laser works on a range of hair colors and all skin types, including tanned skin, and has been proven to improve the appearance of razor bumps, benign pigmented lesions, sun damage and superficial leg veins in addition to removing hair. An innovative cooling device on the end of the laser wand soothes the skin after each pulse of light, ensuring that treatment is nearly pain-free.

EpiLight™ Hair Removal System
Using advanced pulsed light technology, the non-invasive EpiLight™ Hair Removal System swiftly and painlessly removes hair from any area of the body, including the face (chin, upper lip, cheeks, nose, ears), legs, arms, underarms, back, chest, or bikini line. In a series of ten- to 30-minute sessions, the skin is coated with a cool gel before the EpiLight™ hand-held treatment unit is touched to it. Pulses of light loosen hairs from their follicles beneath the skin's surface. Much of the hair can be wiped off along with the gel when the procedure is over; most of the rest falls out on its own within a week or two. Regular activities can be resumed immediately, including going to work, although the skin should be kept out of direct sunlight at first.

Permanent Make-Up

Micropigmentation, or permanent makeup, can improve a person's appearance in a variety of ways, from eyebrow, eyelash and lip enhancement to scar and blemish camouflage. FDA-approved, allergy-tested dyes are made of mineral extracts and can be tinted to match the patient's skin tone as closely as possible. The dyes are injected into the skin using micro-needles after the application of a topical anesthesia, with procedures lasting as little as 30 minutes depending on the size of the area being treated. Results are visible immediately, although more than one session may be required for larger areas or touch-ups. Most patients are fully recovered within 24 hours. Contact lenses, makeup and direct sunlight should be avoided for the first few days.
